Seeking great biotech teams!
Many ideas never make itbeyond the embryonic phase, not because they are not good, but because the hurdle to collect sufficient scientific results and funds is simply too high.
biotope by VIB wants to change this, by providing agrifood biotech startups with a network of industry, science & investment experts, high-tech facilities (labs, greenhouses & equipment), and a €250K pre-seed ticket.
Who are we looking for?
innovative agrifood biotech startups from all backgrounds and geographies who:
- have a unique, biotech-based solution to a clearly articulated and quantified problem (TRL 2-4)
- preferably have (pending) IP
- need scientific and IP support and high-tech facilities to build a benchmarked proof-of-concept
- have two or more team members
- can get seed stage ready with a pre-seed ticket of €250k and bespoke support
biotope basecamp – what to expect?
The 3-week hybrid basecamp challenges participating teams in translating biotech science into a viable business and prepares them and their venture for the challenges that lie ahead:
- gain confidence through hands-on workshops, tailored for agrifood biotech startups
- validate and refine their idea with relevant stakeholders such as scientific and IP experts in the field, potential customers, and serial entrepreneurs
- receive a 360° assessment of their biotech startup and gain expert feedback on what they need to focus on next in their venture’s development
The most promising startups will get invited to embark on a 12-month biotope journey. In this tailored support, each startup gets the pre-seed ticket of €250k, access to research technologies and facilities and a spot at our incubator office and greenhouse and dedicated mentorship by biotech entrepreneurs in our network.
